The cave is situated in Brasov County near Rasnov Citadel. Between 2010 and 2011, 330 metres of the cave were carefully equipped with fiberglass bridges, handrails, stairs and bat friendly lights.

This cave is located in Baia de Fier village in Gorj County and it is the first electrified cave in Romania.

The cave is located 40 km far from the Bear’s Cave so both can be easily visited on the same day. Though Meziad has not as many limestone formations as the Bear’s Cave, it impresses through its large and spacious chambers and its numerous bat colonies. This is way the visit doesn’t start until each tourist receives a protection helmet.

Apuseni Mountains was accidentally discovered in 1975 by a local and opened to the public five years later. It is probably one of the most well-known caves in Romania.
